What psychological assessment can help clarify

People seek assessment to better understand attention or learning needs, developmental differences, emotional or behavioural concerns, and supports that may help at school, work, home or in treatment.

You do not need to decide on a diagnosis before contacting BrainLab. Start with what you have noticed and what you would like to understand.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which assessment to request?

Start with the concern you would like to understand. The individual service pages describe the purpose of each assessment, and BrainLab can help identify the most relevant assessment.

Can an assessment consider more than one concern?

Yes. Some concerns overlap, and several areas may need consideration. The initial review helps determine the focus of the assessment or whether another service conversation may be more useful.

Does every assessment follow the same process?

No. Interviews, testing, questionnaires and other information vary with the question. Every assessment concludes with feedback and a written report.

How long does an assessment take?

Often 4–6 appointment hours, with additional time for interpretation and report preparation. Requirements and timing vary, and the typical timing described on this page is not a guarantee.

Are assessments covered by insurance or funding?

Coverage depends on the individual policy or funding arrangement. Confirm coverage directly with the relevant insurer or funding source.

Does an assessment guarantee a diagnosis, accommodations, funding or eligibility?

No. An assessment provides information related to the concern being examined. Decisions made by schools, insurers, funders, employers or other organizations are outside BrainLab’s control.
