Psychoeducational Assessment

Psychoeducational assessments are comprehensive evaluations that focus on an individual's cognitive and academic functioning, as well as their social and emotional development. These assessments are commonly used to identify learning disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intellectual disabilities, giftedness, and emotional/behavioural disorders that may affect learning and academic performance.

Our Process

The psychoeducational assessment process is a collaborative process between the client and clinician, and in children, with a parent as well. It is a valuable tool for providing insights into an individual's learning style, strengths, and areas that may need support or accommodation in educational, occupational, and/or academic settings. It is used to create tailored educational plans and interventions, and to guide treatment planning.

During psychoeducational assessments, you will be guided through several questions and tests about various areas of your mental health, psychological, and personality. You will be asked standardized questions that have undergone rigorous testing to ensure they are properly assessing your areas of functioning in an evidence-based manner. Some questions will be answered in a simple yes or no fashion, while others will require more detailed responses. The clinician will support you in answering any questions that are more difficult to answer.

Following the completion of the assessment, a report will be written based on the information provided. Once the report is complete, you will be invited to a feedback session, where the clinician will provide any diagnoses that were formally made, as well as any treatment recommendations. During the feedback session, you will be able to read the report and provide any further information that you feel will be helpful.

In order to have a psychoeducational assessment completed, you can either be self-referred or referred by a physician.
